Chemical Control Systems Operator SUMMARY Coordinates activities of processing materials and manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Job duties may vary based on business needs but may result in generating, handling, and/or inspection of hazardous waste and hazardous waste storage. This can include responding or managing hazardous waste spills and incidents based on the sites emergency action or contingency plan. These duties include preparing and managing hazardous waste records such as manifests, inspection logs, waste determination and other reports
Operates reactor instruments and controls and other process equipment to maintain pressure, temperature, and flows. Monitors operation of pumps, reactors, coolers, and vacuum systems.
Responds to process changes.
Interprets manufacturing process and follows proper procedures in order to produce product in an efficient and safe manner. Calculates batch size and records manufacturing data.
Loads and unloads materials onto and from trucks. Loads and unloads tank trucks and tank cars.
Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
Knowledge of multiple valve operations and safety systems.
Complete production and transfer forms.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in training new employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Ability to operate forklift truck.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 65 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and may be regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places. The employee occasionally works with explosives and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
