The Program in Exercise Science within the Department of Physical Therapy at Marquette University is seeking applicants for an academic-year (9-month) tenure-track faculty position (Assistant/Associate Professor) in Exercise Physiology.
Candidates with a strong track record of conducting mechanistic and translational research in areas including biochemistry of exercise, molecular adaptations to acute and chronic exercise training and/or disuse, neuromuscular physiology, skeletal and cardiac muscle physiology, cardiovascular physiology, neural and autonomic physiology, metabolism, and/or inflammation, are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications received prior to December 21, 2024 will receive full consideration, and the search will continue until the position is filled.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to and expand our nationally recognized department through grantsmanship, scholarly publications, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, advising students, and serving on departmental, college, and university committees.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree, or a comparable research-based doctorate degree, in exercise physiology or a related field. The successful candidate must also: 1) show evidence of significant scholarly accomplishment, 2) conduct research that has substantial potential for securing extramural funding, 3) be an active member in ACSM, APS, The Physiological Society, or similar professional research society, and 4) demonstrate proficiencies in college-level teaching.
Candidates at the Associate-level must have a record of successful extramural funding. Preference will be given to candidates who can foster scholarly connections within the department and across campus. The capacity to make collaborative scholarly connections should be addressed within the letter of the application. The program values experience working with disadvantaged student populations.
