POSITION: The School of Kinesiology, Applied Health & Recreation (KAHR) at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Applied Exercise Science. This nine-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position is based on the OSU-Stillwater campus and has an anticipated start date of August 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Applied Exercise Science area.
* Develop and maintain a scholarly research program, mentor and guide undergraduate and graduate student research in an area of expertise; and seek and obtain external funding to support a productive research program. The ideal candidate's research program will enhance or extend one of the school's existing signature areas.
* Provide service in the school, college, university, and community; participate actively in professional organizations through research, teaching, and service to promote improvement in people's lives in the community and state. Other duties may be assigned by the School Head.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Earned Doctorate in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physiology, Neuroscience, or a related field;
* A commitment to, and potential for, teaching excellence and mentoring students in a higher education setting;
* A strong potential for, or record of, academic scholarship as demonstrated by research publication and the ability to secure external research funding;
* Potential for, or history of, active service participation and/or leadership roles in university, community, and/or professional organizations;
* The ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students across socioeconomic backgrounds;
* Applicants engaged in interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary work and who can foster scholarly connections among current school, college, and/or university faculty will be especially competitive;
* Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate a commitment to supporting the land grant mission of Oklahoma State University through integrated, high-quality teaching, research, and outreach/extension that promotes human and economic development in the lives of people in Oklahoma, the nation, and the world;
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants with prior faculty teaching experience, an existing externally funded research program, and the ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse academic backgrounds. Preference will be given to applicants whose research program will enhance or extend expertise in the area of neuroscience/neurophysiology across a wide spectrum of populations (e.g., disease and/or aging across the lifespan, athletic, or military/tactical performance).
