Job Description
The Assistant Director for Athletic Fundraising reports to the AVP of Athletics & Strategic Partnerships and the AVP for Individual Giving and is responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals who are capable of making gifts of $1,000 - $50,000 in support of Athletics. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of approximately 150-175 prospects that are inclined to support Wheaton College athletics and will be expected to meet specific meeting and solicitation goals. This position is responsible for working towards a goal of 100+ visits with individual donors and raising $500,000 per year.
- Solicit leadership annual, major, and planned gifts for Wheaton College Athletics while appropriately stewarding donors at the leadership annual level and above.
- Identify, qualify, and cultivate donors that have demonstrated an interest in supporting Wheaton College Athletics.
- Meet regularly with the AVP for Athletics, the AVP for Individual Giving, Varsity coaches, and the Individual Giving Team (annual, major, planned giving) to track progress, share athletics updates, milestones, anniversaries, and current athletic fundraising needs.
- Develop and execute strategy and content for the Lyons Athletic Club, giving campaigns, including the creation of an Athletic Day of Donors in partnership with the Director of Advancement Marketing & Communications and the Director of Annual Giving.
Minimum Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Prior frontline fundraising experience (2-3 years) with demonstrated understanding of the role of Athletics in a higher education environment.
•Experience with email marketing tools, database management, and microsoft office suite is required. Experience with GiveCampus and Blackbaud technology preferred.
•Flexibility, excellent attention to detail, initiative, and understanding of results-driven philosophy with the ability to problem-solve.

•Excellent organizational skills including experience independently overseeing and executing complex projects and programs in a timely manner.
•Strong written and oral communication skills required including the ability to write in multiple styles/voices and proactively edit as necessary.
•Appreciation of Wheaton's mission and the ability to effectively communicate it to all constituencies.
•Convey discretion and good judgment with confidential information.
•Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a diverse community and make an impact in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
•Must be willing to travel and work outside of normal working hours.
•A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation is required.

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is high $60,000s to low $70,000s.
