3D Print Supervisor at Ford Motor Company This position will lead a team to develop innovative process and technological solutions to solve real-world manufacturing problems related to cost and quality through advanced 3D printing. The role is a leadership opportunity where you will be expected to lead the point of view on additive manufacturing at Ford, including leading technologies such as various 3D printing processes (e.g., FDM, SLA, SLS, DMLS, Binder Jetting), advanced materials, post‑processing techniques, and printing service optimization. Responsibilities Lead the development and integration of "Software Defined Print" capabilities, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in additive manufacturing. Pioneer the use of AI software to intelligently design parts based on specific requirements, optimizing them for Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) and enabling revolutionary fixture‑less robot assembly. Rapidly scan existing physical parts and transform them into DFM‑optimized CAD files, accelerating design iterations and production cycles. Drive reimagined manufacturing processes and develop the technology and solution enablers through advanced 3D printing. Lead a team of engineers to develop novel 3D printing processes and optimize the efficiency and capability of existing additive manufacturing operations across Ford's manufacturing facilities. Drive the development of new 3D printing applications and printing service opportunities, from idea, proof‑of‑concept, pilot to implementation. Lead the point of view on advanced 3D printing technologies and printing services, including various printing processes, material development, design for additive manufacturing, and quality assurance for printed parts. Oversee the delivery of tangible 3D printing solutions and services that improve cost, quality, and efficiency. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including Global Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planning and Logistics, and plant operations, to ensure successful project delivery. Benchmark new advanced additive manufacturing technologies and develop supplier partnerships to deliver manufacturing solutions. Teach, coach, and mentor employees, peers, and leadership; document technical knowledge and establish standards for 3D printing. Provide technical leadership to assess the capability of 3D printing technologies, assure the delivery of system performance, and use project management skills to achieve desired timing. Ensure the identification of lessons learned and their application in additive manufacturing. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications BSc, Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial and/or Electrical). 5+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated ability to lead technical teams. 5+ years of technical engineering development experience, focusing on advanced 3D printing and additive manufacturing processes. At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. A strong interest in and understanding of emerging advanced 3D printing technologies, materials, and services. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing and launching manufacturing processes utilizing additive manufacturing, equipment specification, and installation. Proven project management experience. Experience developing custom tooling, fixtures, and functional parts using additive manufacturing and managing printing services. Experience leading cross‑functional teams in a creative and innovative environment. Knowledge and experience with Ford Production Systems and standards. Experience with 3D printer operation, process optimization, material science for additive manufacturing, and relevant software (e.g., CAD, CAM, slicing, simulation).
